The Full Monty! The new Disney plus series global premiere was in Sheffield on Monday night.
I was invited to attend as the writers, Simon and Alice consulted our locally based Disability rights group DPAC Sheffield, of which I’m a member, when researching the PIP form filling application and assessment process.
Alice Nutter, who spent hours and hours going through a mountain of DWP and medical documents with us didn’t attend her own premiere due to the writers strike but we were able to catch up with her afterwards for a drink and a chat.
The tickets for the Prem were so nice! I was hoping to keep it but sadly our tickets were taken as we entered.
We were shown episodes one and two during the Prem.
I was a bit worried about how I would take to the introduction of any new characters but already I’m absolutely itching for the show to come out on Disney plus so that I can find out more about their stories, as well as the ongoing exploits of characters that we already know and love so much.
The interior of the showroom had been fully decked out with Full Monty bunting and every single poster holder had a Full Monty poster in it.
There was more popcorn than you could shake a stick at, in Full Monty boxes of course lol and at the after party in the Leadmill there were even Full Monty burgers and hotdogs too.
I took my Dad as my plus one, I don’t think I know anyone else who would have relished the experience as much and I was very proud to introduce him to Alice afterwards too.
A big thank you to all the Showroom, Leadmill and Disney staffers as well as the show’s creatives team who made us feel very special and once again just so proud to be Sheffielders!
It is so refreshing that writers have gone to such efforts to create an accurate account of the PIP process by directly consulting people who have been through it. Far too often these things are written from imagination alone.
Thank you Jen, we will look forward to seeing the new series when it arrives on Disney+ next Wednesday 14th June.

What an honour and experience that must have been. I’ve never subscribed to Disney plus, however that is about to change. I loved “The Full Monty” and relish the opportunity to see the next episodes!
